We asked our trainers – What inspired you to become a personal trainer?

“I was a newly unemployed, overweight mother of 3 sons under the age of five. It took me a year to get into a size 16! It was time for a new career and a new me. One year later I graduated with high honours and was down to a size 8. I knew that if I could change my life that I could help others change theirs too”. What is the best advice you offer a beginner? “The workout that’s going to work the best is the one that you’re going to do! Find something that you enjoy”. Favourite recipe:

“I had a passion for fitness in my own life and always tried to learn more about exercise, nutrition and wellness. When people started to ask for my advice and I could see it made a positive difference; I was hooked”. What is the best lesson you have learned from a client? “I once had a client who was nearly crippled with Multiple Sclerosis but refused to give in to it and continued to train. I had a client with only one arm and we found ways to work around it so it was not an impediment. I had a client with a brain injury who achieved elite level fitness. I have had many clients who overcame obstacles to achieve their goals. The most important lesson I have learned from them is that you don’t have any limits if you refuse to place them on yourself”. My favourite quote “And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom” Anais Nin |
